RBR Enchanted Calendar 2018: June

We keep delighting in the beautiful strangeness of the Victorian Flower Vocabulary: in June, our floral favourite is Celosia cristata, also known as Cockscomb for the similarity to the rooster’s red-crowned head.

The symbolic meaning for the Victorians was that of caprice and mannerism. This ornamental plant belongs to the amaranth family and its name stems from the Ancient Green word “kḗleos” (burning).

May these fiery blooms adorning our June calendar sheet conjure a smile on your face.
