London Diary | The Notting Hill Carnival

For three magical days in August, over the August bank holiday, the streets of Notting Hill host one of the largest street festivals in the world.

Since 1966, the annual Notting Hill Carnival – despite its name, not related to worldwide Lent carnival season – has been attracting visitors.

The Caribbean themed carnival stems from two sources, a “Caribbean Carnival” of 1959 and a Notting Hill street party of 1966.

For this year, the best guide to the Notting Hill Carnival on 23-25 August 2014 comprising the parade’s route, dates, tips, and a map to the restaurants and facilities has been put together by visitlondon.com. Look forward to exotic food stalls, live bands, live performers, and a huge party.
